Theme: Give thanks to God for the providential interventions in your life

Texts: 1 King's 17:8-16; Psalms 127:1-5

Preacher: Dr. Marina Muteho

We are celebrating the family Sunday. And for that, let's set one thing straight: we all belong somewhere, family is a provision we got from God. Giving thanks to God for our families should be a custom.

God's providential intervention reaches us in ways we do not expect, just as He did for Elija and the widow in Zarephath. In fact, God sent a crow to feed Elija, then He prepared a widow to feed him, and so He could take care of that widow and her son. Now, let's contemplate the widow's attitude before the peculiar request: She recognized that Elija's Lord is the God who lives then she chose to trust and obey which resulted in the miraculous, sustained supply of food for her, her son, and Elijah during the drought. The fact that the provision came in daily shows that God's providential intervention is for those who rely on Him for their lives. For the more she received what was unexpected from the Lord, the more she trusted him and relayed on Him and the more miracles she witnessed.

God, the everlasting Father provides for our needs, even the ones that have yet occurred. God brought Elija in the widow's home so they wouldn't starve to death and later on, to bring her son back to life.

Brothers and sisters, let's never neglect God's provision in our lives no matter how little it may seem because we cannot survive on our own; we got to relay on Him, doing our part and letting God do the rest. He is our provider, healer, protector and sustainer, so let's trust, obey and be thankful to God.
