Theme: Our living Christian testimony in a corrupt world

Texts: Genesis 38:3-5, 7-20; Matthew 5: 46-47; 14-16

Preacher: Barhelemy AKSANTI

The corruption of the world has started very long ago. Like for Joseph and many others, the world is not safe for us to live in and we’ve got to be careful. The Bible says that Joseph was successful and because of his presence, God had blessed the house of the Egyptian and his field; yet the corrupt world did not spare him and tempted him. Fortunately, Joseph did not fall in that trap.

Today, we’re going to talk about what we can do as christians in such a corrupt world. Even though the world was corrupt from the way back, even though people used to live horrible lives, there is also a lot of examples of people who made a difference. It is important to know that our lives, more then our words, testify in this world that we are Christians.  Our testimony may be a preaching, a behavior, the way we speak, the way we act and react, the way we treat people, our capacity to show kindness, compassion and sympathy, and many other things like self control, joy, wisdom and gentleness. Our lives and actions speak louder than our words. From what people see us doing and saying, they can either be encouraged or discouraged to follow Jesus.

Furthermore, the world is full of darkness, and as Jesus Christ’s disciples, we are called to illuminate it. (Mt 5:14-15) One thing important to know: once we step into the darkness, if we remain there, we might get used to it, so we have to seek the light of God, shine and make a difference. We’ve got the Holy Spirit to help us when things become tough, He shall give us the strength to overcome the temptations and all kind of adversity.

The corrupt and dark world is waiting for us to arise and shine, to make a difference and let Jesus live his life through us so that they could reach God. Let’s impact and mark people’s lives by the help of the Holy Spirit, Amen!
