Today, we talked about the right attitudes of a disciple of Jesus Christ when giving offerings.

In the Old Testament, God commanded the Israelites to give offerings for the building of the Tabernacle. Even though they were in the wilderness and were poor, God asked them to give their best. The Israelites responded with a willing heart and a spirit of generosity.

In our era, many nations face tribulations such as war, economic crisis, etc. But we should not use these situations as excuses for not giving. God is aware of His blessings in our lives, and He will never ask for things we do not or will not have.

In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul also teaches about the importance of giving offerings and how they should be given in a way that honors God. He encourages Christians to give cheerfully and without constraint.

Here are four attitudes to adopt when giving offerings:

  1. Decide what you want to give before you do. This will help you to give cheerfully and without constraint.
  2. Give out of a willing heart. Don't give reluctantly or with regret.
  3. Don't give in response to pressure, fear, or intimidation. Give because you want to.
  4. Give cheerfully. The joy that we give comes from the gratefulness we have for being saved. God loves a cheerful giver.

Brethren, whatever we want to give to support the work of God, be it our money, time, talents, and resources, let us all strive to give cheerfully and with a willing heart in order to honor our God.
