Topic: Thankful living

Preacher: Brother William Lewis

Psalms 107:1-8, 21-22

Welcome to this second Sunday of 2024, the year of restoration, in which we are called to live in a space of thankful living and to position ourselves to receive the recovery of God from all that the devil has stolen from us in Jesus’ name.

We can learn three things from Psalms 107.

Why should we give thanks?

Who should give thanks?

How should we give thanks?

  1. Why should we give thanks? Because God is good: as we grow in life, as we move on in life, as we began to experience what life has to offer us, we began to know that God is indeed a good God. He has done so many things that we have not even prayed for. Because the Lord is good, we ought to give him all the glory. When praises go up, blessings come down and they have the name of everyone written on them. Despite what you are going through, never forget that the Lord is still a good God in all time. Don’t even lose your hope and your faith in God because He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5, Isaiah 49:16, Romans 8:28)

  1. Who should give thanks? The redeemed: Who are redeemed? Those who benefited from the blessings and provisions from the Lord. We are redeemed and we ought to give thanks to God for what He has done. (Galatians 4:4-5)

  1. How should we give thanks? With thanksgiving and rejoicing: We, as Christians, ought to be grateful for everything that God is doing and everything that He is about to do. Everything that we own in this life, God gave it to us, we have to give Him all the glory. When we consider all that the Lord has done for us, we’ve got to give to him praises and thanksgiving.

Dear congregation, on this second Sunday of 2024, as we position ourselves into a space of a thankful living, let us not forget what the Lord will do for us. We have not seen it yet, but because the Lord has done it before, He will do it again. Let us be thankful for what God is about to do in our lives and position ourselves into that space, to be receptive to all that the devil has stolen from us in 2021, 2022, 2023, this year we will receive it and we will recover it in Jesus’ name. Let us be thankful because God is good, be thankful because we have been redeemed, be thankful with rejoicing and praising God for what He is doing, for what He is about to do and for what He will do in our lives. Amen
