One of the biggest, one of the most debated topics and discusBrother William F.S. Lewission of the Christian church are about the Holy Spirit. In John 20:21–22, Jesus Christ appears for the first time to His disciples after being raised from death. They are hiding behind a locked door in fear when Jesus appears to speak with them. He gave them three things: Peace, mandate, and the Holy Spirit.

Why Jesus gave his disciples these three gifts? Our message will be focused on those things so that we may understand the importance of each one of the three gifts in the Christian mission.

  1. Peace: Why do we need peace? peace is so important in our daily lives because without peace we can’t do anything. Without peace we can’t sleep well, if we don’t sleep well we can’t think well. If we can’t think well, we can’t make decisions. If we can’t make decisions, we’re unstable. We can’t be witnesses without peace of mind. We need peace for clarity and focus so that we may be good witnesses of God.
  2. Mandate: We need a mandate because it defines the mission. The mission is to continue Jesus’s teaching just as God the Father had sent Him.

  1. The Holy Spirit: Jesus breaths on disciples the Holy Spirit because he is an equipper for the evangelism. A Christian Without a Holy Spirit is like a car without fuel. He cannot function properly. Living the Christian life is hard, it involves sacrifices, patience and perseverance. The Holy Spirit help us to be witnesses (Acts 1:8). We need him in everything we have to do. We have just to believe that Jesus Christ is resurrected.

Dear congregation, we are empowered by Jesus Christ to be good witnesses of God. We just have to believe that He roses from the dead.
