Theme: Faith in action and the church in mission

Topic: The Sequence of discipleship

Texts: Matthew 28:16

Preacher: JEREMIE NDABO

As we continue our series on faith in action and the church in mission, today we will focus on how the church can align with its mission statement of making disciples of all nations. We will look at some practical steps that we can take to share our faith effectively.

Just like any other organization, for the church to sustain and last long, it must stick to its mission statement. The church is not just about meeting the needs of its own members. It is also about reaching out to the lost and making disciples of all nations, and we are the church, so its growth and expansion concerns us. However, it is important to remember that when God speaks about growth, He is not only referring to numbers. He is also talking about the quality of the people we are discipling. Discipleship is simply the process of maturing and growing in the likeness of Jesus Christ. As we carry out the Great Commission, we must ensure that the people we disciple are growing in the likeness of Christ.

We are all called to share the gospel with others, we can do this by sharing our own stories, by knowing and applying the word of God, and by meeting people where they are, this means understanding their needs and concerns. Sharing our own stories is a powerful way to share our faith. It allows us to share how Christ has changed our lives. It can be a great way to connect with people who are seeking answers. We cannot share what we do not know, that’s why we are called to know the word of God and put it into action in our lives. When we share our faith in words and actions, we are efficiently fulfilling the mission that God gave us.

Brethren, we are called to contribute to the well-being of others, both in word and deed. We do this by sharing our stories of how God has saved us and changed our lives. We also do this by living according to God's word in all areas of our lives as we carry out the great assignment Christ gave us.
